Why Circles?
Over the isolation of the pandemic, I was inspired by Henika Patel and her stunning Women’s Circles. I was amazed at how much intimacy and community could be created with souls from all over the world. We weren’t allowed to gather in person, so I started inviting friends and family to “spa days.” I would send them a curated spa box, we would meet over zoom, to share presence in self care- inspired by Henika’s circles. I didn’t have the vocabulary for it then, but those were my first online circles. I poured my heart and soul into those moments as they were a spark of joy in times that felt lonely and grey. I rooted in the community of Henika’s circles and then bloomed holding space for others in my own spa days. During covid, circles and the community they created, kept me going. Even though I am grateful to be able to resume all the wonders of “normal life.” I never quite let go of circles; they were a seed that was planted in my spirit all those years ago. Life is so busy now I can barely keep up with work and my art. I’m glad we’re back to “normal” but some days I find myself longing for the ease of being able to just log on and see my chosen community from the warmth of my cozy couch.
When I started making trees, I had this crazy idea that if I could just make enough of them, they would heal the world. I’ve known for a long time that I could never create enough to see that hope come true. They take a hot minute to make and I’ve only got two hands! The only way is to share the knowledge. Much like the trees are collaborative, sharing nutrients with those who need it through the mycelium network, I wanted to share my craft with anyone who wanted to learn. It is the only way to make enough trees and plants- to make a true Forest! But I didn’t want to just teach another class, I wanted to create an experience that was as special as the trees are. Years after life got back to its hustle and bustle, I saw that Henika was offering her first Circle Facilitator course. My heart skipped a beat to learn that there would be more circle holders trained in Henika’s methods. I had gobbled up her book Sensual, where she elaborates on the SENSFUL method she developed as a framework for her circles. This was the reason her circles hit me in my soul place and how she was able to create such a sense of community during her gatherings. I decided to take a leap and became a member of the first cohort of Circle Holders Facilitator Training. I knew that circles were the way to bring the Forever Forest to the world. I’ve spent the last year working on my skills as a circle facilitator, artist and business owner to bring this next part of my vision to reality.
I’ve never felt more excited or ready to host a circle. The Forever Forest Crafting Circle is about creating a moment of presence through creativity and artistic expression. You can’t help but be grounded- nature’s palette does this through the crystals and stones we work with. I will show you how to complete not just a craft, but a practice of intention, mindfulness and an embodied hobby. You, in turn help me fill the world with the Forever Forest.
